§ FINALMENTE !!

Ieri ho dedicato una giornata alla mia casetta ed è finalmente diventata del suo colore !
Solo un piccolo passo avanti ma che gioia :o)))

§ AT LAST !!

Yesterday I devoted a day to my little house which at last has become of its proper colour !
Just a little step forward but such a joy  :o))

The drawer is a little masterpiece

Lo scrittoio è davvero un gioiellino.
La superficie è liscia come la seta, un piacere per gli occhi e per il tatto

The desk is a small jewel.
The surface is as smooth as silk, a pleasure for both eyes and tact.

Post gemello - Twin post

§ Mi perdonerete la ripetizione ma il tempo è tiranno.

Solo oggi sono tornata in possesso della macchina fotografica per cui ho fatto un post gemello con La Stanza di Giuggiola.

§ Dopo mesi di coma la mia macchina fotografica è tornata in funzione !!!

Non ci credevo più e mi ero ormai rassegnata all'acquisto di una nuova.

Non averla mi ha anche bloccata sul blog perchè cos'è un blog senza foto, belle o brutte che siano ?

§ After some months of coma my camera has come back to life !!!

I didn't believe this possible any more and I was resigned on buying a new one.

Not having a camera also stopped my blogging because what's a blog without pics, nice or nasty as they can be ?

§  La prima cosa che vi mostrerò è la amatissima Bubble Chair che è destinata alla camera di Mini Matteo

§ First thing I'll show to you is my beloved Bubble Chair which is meant for Mini Matteo's room

§ Avrete notato che i cuscini sono davvero troppo rigidi allora mi sono messa in caccia di un tessuto che per colore e consistenza potesse adattarsi.
Ho trovato delle toppe di Alcantara per maglioni ! Fantastiche, morbide e vellutate e dell'esatta tonalità di rosso.
Costosucce ahimè ma le volevo !

 § You may have noticed that the cushiond were really too stiff hence I begun hunting for a fabric which might be good in colour and texture.
I found Alcantara patches for jumpers ! fabulous, soft and velvety and of the exact hue of red.
Alas, pretty expensive but I wanted them !

§  Ho fatto una dima e ho tagliato...con un po' di timore ;o)

§ I draw the shape and I cut.... with some fear ;o)

§ Ed ecco la sedia nella camera !
Va bè, in quella che sarà la camera.....datemi tempo :o)

La Stanza Segreta - The Secret Room

§ SETTE MESI !!
Sette mesi senza scrivere.... che tristezza....
Ma non senza ispirazione.
Infatti qualche tempo fa qualcuno, mi sembra Catherine, aveva mostrato questa magnifica libreria: è stato amore a prima vista! Tanto da decidere che nella Casa Rossa ci sarebbe stata una Stanza Segreta, una libreria !

§ SEVEN MONTHS !!
Seven months without writing.....so sad....
But not without an ispiration.
Sometimes ago somebody, I think it was Catherine, posted this magnificent library: it has been love at first sight! So much to decide that inside the Casa Rossa there will be a Secret Room, a library!

§ Così ho cominciato a studiare come poterla realizzare
§ I begun to study how to build it up

§ Ecco il mio prototipo in cartone da legatoria anche se ho già comprato tutti i listelli di legno per costruirla per bene.

§ This is my prototype in matboard even though I already bought all the wood to build it properly.

§ Sul retro sembrerà una normalissima parete

§ On the back side it will look like a normal wall

§ Ho costruito la porta del mio rifugio :o))

Trasloco - Moving

§ Dopo tanti, troppi mesi finalmente scrivo un post su questo blog negletto.

Tante cose, tanti accadimenti, mi hanno allontanato dalla mia Casa Rossa ma oggi è arrivata a casa.

Essendo in casa, vicino a me, avrò più occasioni per "coccolarla" e farla crescere.

§ At last after many, too many months I write a post on this neglected blog.

Many issues, many happenings have taken me away from my Casa Rossa but today it arrived at home.

Being at home, close by, I'll have more occasions to cuddle it and make it grow.

§ Questa è la casina lungo il percorso dal garage a casa, vedete la sua sorellona grande ? :o)

§ This is the wee house along the road from the garage to my house, can you see its bigger sister ? :o)

§ Eccola a casa,ancora bianca ma tra poco spero che diventi del suo colore vero; Porfiry Pink di Farrow & Ball

 § A small and cosy room where you migh savour the pleasure of reading and concentration

§Ovviamente nella Casa Rossa i libri saranno molti, molti, molti di più ...... la stanza avrà le pareti fasciate da scaffali
Ops, ma quanti libri dovrò fare ????

§ Of course in the Casa Rossa the books will be many, many, many more .... the room will have the walls made with shelves
Ops, how many books shall I have to do ???

§ PS il cuscino è ricamato su garza di seta , l disegno è mio e  l'ho fatto l'anno scorso proprio per LEI :o))

§ PS the cushion is stitched on silk gauze, the pattern is mine and I made it last year just for IT :o))

Terrazzo

§ Nei giorni scorsi abbiamo tinteggiato e fissato al pavimento il casottino così oggi pomeriggio abbiamo cominciato a piastrellare.
Negli ultimi mesi abbiamo raccolto , plurale perchè tutta la famiglia ed affini sono stati coinvolti, cartoni da uova. Cosa più facile a dirsi che a farsi dal momento che qui le uova le vendono in contenitori di plastica.
§ In the last few days we painted and fixed the hut to the floor and today we started tiling the terrace.
In the last months we gathered, plural because all the family members and friends have been involved in the task, egg cartons. Easier said than done since eggs are sold in plastic containers here in Genoa.

§ Comunque ne abbiamo raccolto a sufficienza ed oggi , dopo il noioso lavoro di ritaglio, abbiamo cominciato ad incollare le "piastrelline. Ci vorrà ancora molto molto , lavoro ....

§ Anyway we collected enough and today, after the boring cutting work, we begun gluing the "tiles". I foresee a long , long work ....

§ E questa è la mia ispirazione.
I colori saranno diversissimi , rosso Genovese ai muri e verde Vittoria agli infissi ma spero di riuscire a replicare l'aura di serenità di questo angolino.
§ And this is my ispiration.
The colours will be most different, Genovese red on the walls and Vittoria green on the window frames but I hope I shall be able to duplicate the same feeling of serenity of this little corner.

Il casotto - The roof hut

§ First of all , thank you all for the welcome back comments : I truly appreciate them :o))

§ Oggi abbiamo costruito il casottino sul tetto

§ Today we built up the roof hut

§ Potete vedere  la Casa sullo sfondo . Infatti il tetto è staccabile per facilitare i lavori e soprattutto perchè mi ha permesso di creare un'intercapedine in cui saranno alloggiati i comandi per la luce.
§ You can see the Casa on the background. Actually the roof top is detachable to ease the works and mostly because it allowed me to create a cavity-wall were all the lights switches will find place.

§ Qui potete vedere il pianerottolo in cima alle scale ... non so ancora come farò a costruirla ....

§ Here you can see the landing of the stairs ... I have no idea how to make them yet ....

§ Adesso il casottino ha un tetto

§ Now the hut has a roof

§ Il soffitto avrà dei travi che in questo momento stanno asciugando dopo essere stati mordenzati.
§ The ceiling will have beams which at this moment are drying up after staining.

§  Si potranno vedere a malapena , solo guardando da sotto in sù attraverso la porta ma sono questi dettagli che mi piacciono :o)
§ They will be hardly visible , only looking from down to upwards  through the door but these are the details which I love :o)

§  Dopodomani, festa nazionale , avrò il giorno libero e potrò dipingere i muri esterni
§ The day after tomorrow , National holiday, I shall have a day off work and I shall paint the outer walls.

Finestre - Windows

§ Finalmente , dopo tanto tanto tanto tempo sono tornata a lavorare alla Casa Rossa.

Per meglio dire , siamo tornati a lavorare perchè non  potrei fare niente senza l'indispensabile aiuto del mio papà.

§ At last , after a long long long time I went back and worked at the Casa Rossa.

Better said , we came back working because I couldn't do it without the most precious help of my dad.

 

§  Il mese scorso ho ricevuto le finestre che costituiranno gran parte della casetta sul tetto. La casetta, presenza tipica dei tetti Genovesi, servirà come ripostiglio e soprattutto a proteggere il vano scale.
§ Last month I received the windows which will be the bulk of the little hut on the roof top. The hut , typical presence on all Genoa rooftops , will serve as a utility room and primarily as shelter to the stairs.

§  Una doveva essere ridotta in ampiezza per lasciare spazio alla porta d'accesso al terrazzo
§ One had to be reduced in width to let space for the door accessing to the terrace

§ Talvolta ci vogliono le maniere forti !
§ Sometimes you need the strong-arm !

§ Ma si ottiene ciò che si vuole  :o))
§ But you get what you want  :o))

Ardesia - Slate

§ Dopo un mese molto intenso , e non solo per i viaggi e le fiere , finalmente sono riuscita a lavorare alla Casa Rossa

§ After a very busy month , and not only because of the trips and fairs , at last I managed to work at the Casa Rossa

§ Una diecina di giorni fa sono arrivate le tegole d'ardesia per il cornicione.
Le ho trovate in Inghilterra presso il sito di Richard Stacey e sono PERFETTE ! pensare che sono tagliate a mano da vera ardesia e sono solo 1 mm di spessore !
§ Some 10 days ago the slates for the ledge arrived at my home.
I found them in England at Richard Stacey's website and they are PERFECT ! they are hand split from real slate and they are only 1 mm thick !

§ E pensare che sono la seconda scelta : su 300 pezzi ne ho trovati solo una dozzina meno che perfetti.
§ Think that they are second choice : among 300 pieces I found only a dozen less than flawless.

§ Il cornicione era così , nudo e triste
§ The ledge was like this , naked and sad

§ Dopo 3 ore di lavoro abbiamo completato 2 lati del cornicione
§ After 3 hours of work we completed 2 sides of the ledge

§ Mancano le finiture , gli angoli saranno protetti da lastre di ardesia messe perpendicolarmente e da coppi di terracotta
§ Finishing touches are still missing , the corners will be protected by slates perpendicular to thethe others and by earth roof tiles

§ Manca ancora lo stucco e la fila di tegoline sul mini cornicione sul retro
§ Grouting is still missing too with the teeny slates on the mini ledge on the back

§ Il colore della facciata cambia tantissimo con la luce ! non è così rosa ma neppure arancio come nella foto precedente
§ The facade colour changes so much with light ! it is neither as pink nor as orange as in the preceding picture

§ Mi piace da morire e non vedo l'ora di invecchiarlo per bene.
Sylvia, avrò bisogno del tuo aiuto !!!!
§ I like it to bits and I look forward to nicely age it.

§ Ecco il tetto nel suo colore definitivo ( mancano i comignoli , li farò domani ...se riesco a trovare un po' di tempo )
§ Here is the roof in its final colour ( still lacking the chimneys, I shall do the tomorrow ... if I can find a bit of time )
